As Scary as Swine Flu

I wasn’t able to blog for more than a couple of days because I was infected with virus… computer virus, that is… most specifically called – Cyber Security virus. It was the most horrible thing that could ever happen to any blogger like me.

This is how it looks like.

And according to the computer expert of My Anti Spyware [you guys are awesome]...

Cyber Security is a rogue antispyware program that looks similar to widely spread rogue antispyware application called Total Security. Cyber Security is installed through the use of trojans. Once the trojan is installed, it will install Cyber Security on infected computer and will configure it to run automatically every time, when computer starts. Immediately after launch, Cyber Security starts scanning the computer and list a variety of threats that will not be fixed unless you first purchase the program. All of these threats are fake, so you can safely ignore them.

Well, it was too late already when I realized that I was infected by it. Next thing I knew, I was prompted with alerts such as:

Cyber Protection Center
Cyber Protection Center reports that ‘Cyber Security’ is inactive. Antivirus software helps to protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. Click here for the suggested actions. Your system might be at risk now.

Cyber Security – vulnerable file(s) found!
Cyber Security has identified that some documents and files can be vulnerable to viruses. You may lose your personal data and infect other network computers.

Cyber Security – Threats Detected
WARNING! 42 Threats detected!!!

I was almost paralyzed. I cannot open any website. I cannot update my Facebook. I cannot "tweet". I was totally helpless.

No, I’m not going to discuss anything about the virus and how it got into my computer because I am not a computer geek. The only thing I know is that I hate it when it happened. Good thing I have a laptop and was able to research about the virus and how to remove it from my PC. And one website provided me with the solution on how to remove Cyber Security.

Well I did find the solution from that website but not from the instruction given there but from one of the comments provided by SARAH… one of the readers/visitors of the site.

Here is the thing... I am not a computer geek, [as I have already mentioned earlier] and following instructions on how to deal with any computer application is always a trial and error process to anyone whose knowledge is limited and whose patience is comparable to a two-year old hyper-active little boy. I tried to follow the instruction in to-to. I downloaded everything I was asked to download and the whole 9-yards but still for some reason I couldn’t make it work. Then, out of desperation I just read all the comments provided at the bottom part of the write up to know if there was anyone who could give me a simple answer.

Then, I saw the most uncomplicated instruction provided by Sarah…

In your search box… type in the following and delete it:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\CSUninstall\Uninstall

… and presto! It was so simple and in an instant Cyber Security is out of my computer.

Whoever you are Sarah [I wish you put your link on that comment so I can visit your site if you have any]… Thanks a bunch.

Crazy Weather

Indian Summer is awesome. It's the time of the year when I don't need to deal with bugs. I don't need to deal with hot sunny days because even if it is 60 or 70 degrees it doesn't feel too hot but balmy. The landscape is breathtaking due to foliage.

Love You... G.M. Pollack

First of all this is NOT a paid post. Second of all, this is just to show my appreciation for my jeweler for doing a great job on my ring. And, third of all, I am just so happy that my ring is finally fixed that is why I am writing about it.

I went to my jeweler last week to have my diamond ring and earrings cleaned and fixed. It was just an ordinary day. I just thought I should bring my jewelries to my jeweler that day since I was already in town for its regular check up/cleaning/maintenance routine. They do all those things every six months… for free.

And so I went and had my jewelries checked and it turned out that one of the prongs on my ring moved and was partially crooked. So the lady said that she will have it fixed by one of their goldsmiths in Scarborough and processed it for documentation. Then she took my earrings to have it cleaned and sparkling again. As I was waiting, I browsed over their huge stock on sale and I ended up buying a pair of cute 14 k earrings with tiny dangling hearts that perfectly matches the gold heart locket necklace that Hubby gave me on Valentines day which he also both from them. I left the store as quickly as I got my ring’s claim ticket for fear of buying another piece of jewelry because everything in that store is 50% off.

I came back after a week and got my ring back. It is as good as new and I didn’t spend anything for the cleaning and repair. And one good thing… the lady said that I don’t need to wait 6 months for the next check up/cleaning/maintenance schedule because I can have my jewelries checked up anytime I feel like it.

Isn’t it sweet? Love you G.M. Pollack!

Free is not always a good thing

Photobucket
Don’t get fooled by false advertisement. Don’t get carried away by scammers using the word “free” as the lure to take advantage of you. And don’t think that “free offer” is always a good thing.

In this tough economic situation everybody is an easy prey for scam and hoax. But if you are looking for free business cards, almost always you will find that “FREE IS NOT ALWAYS WORTH IT’ because they are too good to be true.

But that is not the case with 123Print.com where you can find 10,000 high quality full-colored business card designs that you can customize. It may not be free but it is more practical, cheaper and more importantly... more personal.

I Don't Like Monday

It's the day of the week when I usually get cranky for reasons too many to mention. But for what it's worth, this is the day of the week that I need to deal with whether I like it or not.

It supposed to be a nice, warm and sunny weekend. Well, it was indeed a nice, warm and sunny long weekend due to Columbus Day. We didn't have school but I still have to work for 6 hours [from 8am to 2pm] and had the rest of the day shopping since it was a payday too. It was supposed to be a long nice weekend and I was hoping to do a lot of window shopping at the mall with my friend but no... I had to stay home the entire weekend to babysit my cold. Darn it!

But that is not really the main reason why I don't like Monday. It's just one of the reasons because it is the recent one. I always hate Monday for as long as I can remember. Monday being the start of the weekday gives me reason to brag about how bad the weekend was or how I wish weekend would be a little longer when I had so much fun. I hate Monday because weekend is too way far to have another rest. I hate Monday because I still have to go through Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday then Friday... before it will be weekend again.

Monday is the start of the week and with every start you need a new perspective or continue with the old one. But Monday will never go and so I have to deal with it. Maybe next Monday it will be a different Monday. And who knows? I might love it then. Then, I will write another blog... I like Monday now.

Downsizing Mood

If you are one of my old followers, you should know by now that I own and manage 9 blogs [and 10 others own by people who trust me that I co-manage] that used to be all active.

I am a blogger and am very proud of it.

Blogging is my life. Well, it used to.

I have been blogging for more than 4 years now [if my calculation is right]. And during those years, I gained a lot of blogging friends and I am grateful for that. They became my virtual support system during my adjustment period here in my new home. Their friendship helped me a lot during my blogging dilemma. I learned a lot especially from my Fairy Blog-mother who babysat me during the conception of my youngest baby Ruthilicious.

This blog – is my first baby. Well, sort of. I started with my Friendster’s blog account entitled Nagging Thoughts. But this blog is my very first website with its own domain. And since its birth, my family grew larger. I have 4 official websites with their own domains, 1 which is dedicated for my Hubby’s business and which I also set-up and manage, and 4 blogs hosted free by blogger, wordpress, zimbio and the notorious today.com.

Now that I am working and don’t have time to blog like I used to, I am downsizing.

Yes, and I repeat… I am downsizing!

I am now slowly and surely closing some websites that I own, most specifically those hosted free by the networks mentioned above.

I am now in the process of transferring and merging some of the posts I had in those blogs to my official websites namely; Ruthi’s breathingSpace, a Carpenter’s WIFE’s tool box, Ruthilicious and my REFUGE online PLUS hubby’s Gregoire Builders.

With regards to my blog written in my native language - sa puso at isip… I am thinking of getting it with its own domain too in the near future. And that will be it.

I am officially stating this fact… that I will just have 6 blogs [with the addition of my tagalong website]… no more no less.

Proud Shopper

I am so proud of myself!

Last Sunday, I went to do my groceries. But before I did, I made a quick stop at the nearby store to check out some items for sale.

I wasn’t really planning to shop or buy anything because I already did some shopping two days in a row. But lo and behold… there it was… an entire rack of clothes for sale for just one buck. Yup. It was a $1 sale.

I almost bought the entire rack if only it had my size. Unfortunately, most of the items are left-over from old stock that is why most of them are big sizes. I only got 9 items from the rack and paid 9$ plus taxes.

And here's the thing... I didn’t even spend the money I had in my wallet because I used the gift card that my husband gave me on my birthday. Isn't it awesome?

I so love shopping!

Personalizing Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner, as the saying goes. Indeed it is. We already have snowfalls in the mountains and if that is not indicative of the upcoming happy occasion… I don’t know what is.

Christmas is my favorite occasion. It is not just a season to be jolly but a season of love. And more importantly, this is the most appropriate season to show our loved ones how special they are. And for me, the most appropriate way to show our love and feelings to them is to send them personalised christmas cards.

So if you are like me, you might want to check out 123 Print and order your personalized cards. They provide an array of different cards that you can design yourself at 10% off. It’s almost Christmas and it’s time to personalize it.
