A Grateful Heart Thursday: Let's Run!

I love to run.
I run when I am happy and when I'm sad. I also run when I am bored or when I don't know what to do.

I run when it is sunny... or cloudy... or rainy... or snowy.

Who could have thought that someday I will enjoy running? I am 49 years old and I have never ran when I was in my TEENs or 20s or 30s. I am a late bloomer and a wimpy kid when I was little. Not really proud of it but people change.

I changed. What I didn't like then, I like them now. What I didn't do then, I do them now. What I love then, I hate them now. I am so human and proud of it!

At my age, I have so many things to be grateful for. I don't need to give you a list. We are all the same. God may play favorites every now and then but I believe He invented the words equality and uniqueness for a reason.

God gave us blessings. We were given "gifts" that He knows will help us lead the kind of life He plans for us. What we do with them and how we handle them is our business because with those gifts - tangibles and otherwise, come freedom.

I am blessed that God gave me legs. Though not long and gorgeous enough like those Victoria's Secret models' but strong enough to run and enjoy the outdoors.

Simple it may seem to us who are not born without limbs or walking in prosthetic or cruising in wheelchairs. But yes, we should be thankful that we can go from point A to point B without struggling.
Success in not just about the power to have money or the top position in the government or achieving your wildest dream.

Success for me is as simple as crossing the finish line without losing my spirit when two senior citizens beat me by a difference of 20 seconds  to the finish line at that one winter-y race last year. wink*

And success is when after the pain of running, I still have the drive to put my runners back on to train for my next race which I know will only place me 5th from the bottom list. The Top1 in the bottom list surely is a walker. wink***

Prayer
Lord, thank you for the gift of health.
Thank you for the strength.
and Thank you for the will power to choose an active life.
Please help me to be able to run my life in your path and
lead me back to your kingdom
when you know that I am running away from you.
Amen
