As Scary as Swine Flu

I wasn’t able to blog for more than a couple of days because I was infected with virus… computer virus, that is… most specifically called – Cyber Security virus. It was the most horrible thing that could ever happen to any blogger like me.

This is how it looks like.

And according to the computer expert of My Anti Spyware [you guys are awesome]...

Cyber Security is a rogue antispyware program that looks similar to widely spread rogue antispyware application called Total Security. Cyber Security is installed through the use of trojans. Once the trojan is installed, it will install Cyber Security on infected computer and will configure it to run automatically every time, when computer starts. Immediately after launch, Cyber Security starts scanning the computer and list a variety of threats that will not be fixed unless you first purchase the program. All of these threats are fake, so you can safely ignore them.

Well, it was too late already when I realized that I was infected by it. Next thing I knew, I was prompted with alerts such as:

Cyber Protection Center
Cyber Protection Center reports that ‘Cyber Security’ is inactive. Antivirus software helps to protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. Click here for the suggested actions. Your system might be at risk now.

Cyber Security – vulnerable file(s) found!
Cyber Security has identified that some documents and files can be vulnerable to viruses. You may lose your personal data and infect other network computers.

Cyber Security – Threats Detected
WARNING! 42 Threats detected!!!

I was almost paralyzed. I cannot open any website. I cannot update my Facebook. I cannot "tweet". I was totally helpless.

No, I’m not going to discuss anything about the virus and how it got into my computer because I am not a computer geek. The only thing I know is that I hate it when it happened. Good thing I have a laptop and was able to research about the virus and how to remove it from my PC. And one website provided me with the solution on how to remove Cyber Security.

Well I did find the solution from that website but not from the instruction given there but from one of the comments provided by SARAH… one of the readers/visitors of the site.

Here is the thing... I am not a computer geek, [as I have already mentioned earlier] and following instructions on how to deal with any computer application is always a trial and error process to anyone whose knowledge is limited and whose patience is comparable to a two-year old hyper-active little boy. I tried to follow the instruction in to-to. I downloaded everything I was asked to download and the whole 9-yards but still for some reason I couldn’t make it work. Then, out of desperation I just read all the comments provided at the bottom part of the write up to know if there was anyone who could give me a simple answer.

Then, I saw the most uncomplicated instruction provided by Sarah…

In your search box… type in the following and delete it:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\CSUninstall\Uninstall

… and presto! It was so simple and in an instant Cyber Security is out of my computer.

Whoever you are Sarah [I wish you put your link on that comment so I can visit your site if you have any]… Thanks a bunch.
