burnt out multi-tasker

I am a multi-tasker. And I am proud of it. Or was I?

I have 4 blogspot sites that I am currently juggling to update and manage. I have 5 or more different website accounts that needed to be attended too. And I have signed up for 4 or more PTC websites aside from the other paying forum that I also have to keep up with.

I have only one computer unit, 2 hands, 1 mind, tons of chores to finish, a demanding husband, a handful step-son, friends that I need to update with my present situation, regular prayer time, and the list goes on and one.

I need a break. But not today. I still have to write another blog after this... in another website.

Ahh, the life of a multi-tasker!

10,000 BC won

I finally said yes to 10,000 BC. Hubby and I usually see a movie on a Saturday night (after we had Chinese). Each time we watch movie, I always choose what movie we will watch. A couple of weeks back, we were arguing (again) which movie we would watch. He wanted the 10,000 BC but as usual I won. We watched Jumper. He liked it but complaining that we were the only ones in the movie house.

But today, I let him choose. He was already complaining that I always choose the movie and he didn't have the chance to watch what he really wants. So, just to make him feel good, I let him choose what he wanted to watch. I let him choose because because there was no movie that I really like to watch this week. I just wanted to watch and get over it.

Anyway, I am not going to make a movie review here. I am not into movie review. But 10,000 BC is not a bad movie. I just like watching [any] movie because I get to spend time with my hubby.

Jeff's suggestion

Okay, Jeff already read my e-mail. And this is what he said...

Hi, what about simply calling your blog Ruthinian's Breathing Space. That
way it will be clearly differentiated.

Jeff Davidson

Well, sounds good. I guess this is a good idea. Why not? I really like the words "breathing space" better than "myREFUGE" for this particular blog site because this is really a breathing space for me. And to put my name in it... makes it more personal. What do you think? Oh well, whatever. I will just name this "breathingSpace" again and add my name.

As for "myREFUGE", I have another blogspot site that I created last year. I called it "my cup of tea" that time because I was having a cup of tea then when I created it. But I signed up for WordPress recently too and called it "my cup of tea" also because I can't think of any other name that time. Oh yes, I know what you are thinking, you are right, I am a confused wreck. So to address the problem correctly, I will call my other blogspot site "myREFUGE" now. So I can rest in peace.

Now, I am happy. This site will be called.... Ruthi's breathingSpace now... and for always.

one snowy springtime morning

I woke up to another snowy morning.
It is still cold and chilly.
So why am I ranting?
Because, it's already SPRINGTIME!

And since it snowed all night, the snow bank is still higher than me.
The driveway needs to be plowed.
The pathway needs to be snow-blown.

But it is already springtime.
So, I want to see the flowers blooming.

Spring is here now.
So I want to see the grass turning green.

It is now the season for spring.
So I want to start my garden.

But since it is still snowing outside.
And the snowbank is still hard and packed.

I guess, hubby and I will be ice-fishing a lot more this time.
Because this is springtime...
but the snow is here to stay for a while.

what's in the name?

I received a comment from a recent visitor to one of my blogs entitled "reaching out and getting paid off" . It goes like this...

1 comment: Show original post
Jeff Davidson.. said..
please note: Breathing Space is registered
trademark of the Breathing Space Institute

I was surprised. I didn't know what to do. So I clicked the link and found out that Jeff owns a registered website named Breathing Space.

As you may know (for those who already visited this site before) the original title of this blog site is breathingSpace. (Note: It is spelled as is.) So when I read his comment, I was really dumb-folded because I had no idea. I immediately wrote him an e-mail (I am still waiting for his reply as of this writing) and apologized for my honest mistake. If you can call that a mistake.

I had this "breathingSpace" blog title for quite awhile and don't have any idea that somewhere in the cyberspace, there is another website that exists with the same title. I love this title because it fits my predicament. You see, I am a stay-at-home wife (as you may also know by now) and blogging is my past-time. I had to write down all those nagging thoughts so it won't keep nagging me. I love that title because I feel that I can breathe out whatever is on my mind and heart. I love the title because I finally found a perfect space for those thoughts and I can rest in peace.

I am not a computer geek. I am just a neophyte here. I am learning slowly and slowly discovering new things at a time. And then, I was introduced to a lot of opportunities online where I could earn money through blogging and clicking and whatnot. I just wanted to make myself useful and productive. So I spend a lot of time exploring and surfing the net, looking for new opportunities to increase my earnings. I haven't received any payout just yet. But I am not in a hurry, I just love to write and being paid for it... is only a bonus.

Well, going back to the real issue, Jeff's was written as Breathing Space while mine was spelled out breathingSpace. I can dispute that my blog is not one and the same simply by pointing out that it was spelled out differently. But then, this is not a strong alibi. And I don't need an alibi. I guess. I just want to point out here that, a simple name can make a big difference.

I don't want to dwell so much on this issue. So I just changed my original username "myRefuge" to my real name and used it as my new blog title. So here you go. This blog site will now official called "myREFUGE". I hope no other website owner will come out again and call my attention and tell me that his website's name is registered as "my refuge" too or else, I will be forced to change it again.

For now, I will have to think 3 more possible blog titles that can come handy for emergency reason. Well, to Jeff Davidson, I again apologize. Hope you forgive me and I love your website... Breathing Space.

Now, I can breathe.

reaching out and getting paid off

As you may know by now, I am still out of work. Winter is taking forever here in Maine (even if it is already spring, officially) and hubby is still worried that the icy road will traumatize me (or him). Beside the fact that I still don't have a car yet to practice my driving skill plus, the fact that I still don't have a valid Maine driver's license, I am still stuck here in my bedroom, 24/7 waiting for the sun to rise and set. Just joking. I do go out a lot, hubby take me out to movies and Chinese on Saturdays or do our hobby together (ice-fishing)

Oh well, I can rant and rant and still can't do anything about it. So I might as well make myself useful and productive. So here goes, I found this nice website community were I can reach out to a lot of people (mostly stay-at-home wife/mom) all over the world who share different passion for almost everything. I get to know a lot of people of different background, culture and orientation. And I learn a lot of things, ideas and whatnot through sharing and discussion with myLot and Clickex Forum, two important sites which I truly enjoy a lot now. But what's the catch? Not much... but aside from making friends... I AM MAKING MONEY! Yup, I do.

But that is beside the point. Of course, I want money. At this point, I need money so I can help my hubby pay the bills. But being able to do something productive and useful is what is more important to me now. Oh, c'mon... I am serious here. Being able to do something and make a living is so important specially at this time when the economy is sagging.

Okay, so why don't you just try it and tell me if I am telling the truth or not. I cannot say anything more about it but... I just love myLot community. It helps me keep my sanity intact. I makes me feel important because I am able to share my ideas and opinion with a lot of people. I am able to find answer to a lot of questions in my mind through discussion that I start. And I am able to encourage others by responding to their discussions as well.

With the modern technology we have right now, why not take advantage of it. This is the best way to communicate and make a difference... and a living too.

easter sunday blues

I have a different concept about Easter Sundays. Or shall I say, a different orientation and tradition. I came from a religious family where Christian tradition is well-respected and appreciated. But I am not that religious. I just grew up embracing a tradition that I don't exactly know where it came from. But I kinda like it. Tha pagentry of the Holy Week celebration is always a celebration I look forward to for many reasons. Family get-together, food, drinks, and camaraderie are just some of them. I wait with great anticipation for the century old religious traditions held by the church and participate when I can like the procession of the saints, the afternoon masses and the "vicita iglecia". But more over, I just love the week-long break to just relax and binge.

This year, I am here in another country and I never felt more homesick than today. Deep in my heart I know that my family is doing the same activities we used to enjoy year after year. And sadly, I am not there to participate. I am not there to enjoy it. And I am not there to be a part of the family I so missed so much. But life has to go on. I have a new life now... a new family... and a new country.

I am now ready to embrace a new culture. I am now ready to be a part of a new tradition. And I am now ready to add a new experience with my past. Today, I found out that my new family celebrate Easter Sunday with a basket of easter eggs. Today, I found out that family eats together too and each member is given treats like chocolates to celebrate easter. And just like any family tradition, my new family shows how much we love each other by simply taking the time out to be together.

Easter is a day for celebration. It is a day to celebrate a tradition that family have been born into. Easter is the day for re-birth. And Easter is the re-birth of a new beginning with hope and great anticipation for a blessed future ahead. Though I still don't know what the bunny is all about, I know, in time, I will learn everything because this is just the beginning.

the age difference

I just turned 43 last week. It's no big deal. No big celebration. No big surprises. No expectations whatsoever. It was just another day. A very ordinary day. I woke up early (as usual) to make coffee for hubby. He greeted me "Happy Birthday" the first time he opened his eyes. It was just fine too.

After everybody left the house, I sat in front of the computer and checked all my e-mails. It was no big deal too. Well, I got a lot of offline messages from friends and family all over the world. And that was new because it doesn't happen all the time. I chatted with my brother, cousin and friend online who were waiting for me to greet me. Then, I just did the chores. I cleaned the bathroom, vacuumed the carpet in the living room, mopped the dining area and kitchen, did the laundry and fixed the bedroom. It was just an ordinary day.

I just turned 43 last week and I don't feel any different. I still have the same dry skin everyday due to cold winter. I still have the same dull hair that needs to be styled anytime soon. And I practically feel the same way as in the past years. I am not saying that I am not happy. Maybe I was just not too excited because I am getting older or worse, I am looking old. Or maybe because, this was the first time I celebrated my birthday away from home... away from my family, away from my friends, away from the life that I used to have.

But there is one reason for me to celebrate, though. I have a new family now. I have a mother-in-law who is very supportive of me and treats me like a real daughter. I have step-children who treat me like their real mother. And I have a husband who loves me very much.

Of course, I have more reason to celebrate my 43rd birthday than concentrate on my physical flaws. Dry skin can be cured by my moisturizers. My dull hair can be improved by conditioner or a visit to my hair dresser. And I can feel no different at all because I have people here who care. I had cake on my birthday. My step-daughter took the time to bake it for me. My father-in-law bought boxes of pizza. And I got a new pair of 1/3 carat diamond earrings from hubby.

Age is not the main factor in feeling different about oneself. Age is only a figure. Age is only a matter of putting perspective into mind set. Age is the difference between knowing what is really important in life and the ability to know its significance to one's life.

Now, I am happy.

Blogging Mishaps

Modern Technology is the best thing that ever happens to humanity. Or is it? Well, this might be debate-able since there are also some disadvantages. But to be able to keep up with change and take advantage of all the opportunities that modern technology can offer, one has to keep himself abreast to be in the running.

I am not a computer savvy but I love computer. It facilitates a lot of work for me and helps me with a lot of things from writing to searching and re-searching. I can do a lot of simple things with it. But sometimes I can also amaze myself with not so-simple things as well, like making DVD, or high-tech scrap-booking to photo enhancement to blogging to online publishing. Oh I love it.

But having engaged deeper into the world of technology, I discovered that there are more to it than I can imagine. Earning extra income through blogging is cool. So I thought. I explore and enjoy it a lot that it becomes “my breathing space”. I was into it, so to speak. But it came to a point that I need more than what I already know to be able to take full advantage of this opportunity. There are lots of things that I don’t know how to do and doing research is not helpful enough because I get confused. I don’t know a lot of terminologies that are relevant to blogging… like making a link for some special words, following instruction given by the website to activate account and a lot more. It is so frustrating.

But persistence is my middle name and so it patience. I just need proper motivation and I know I can make it. Or more so, I need a tutor or a mentor, or perhaps an angel to give me the necessary skills I need to take advantage of this opportunity.

turning green

Winter will be over soon. Spring will be here in a couple of weeks and the snow banks are still as high as our roof. It's all over the news, global warming is causing the earth terrible disaster and has affected not only the climate but the eco-system. And we are all aware that "we" the people played a very important role in this catastrophic hishaps.

But a lot of people too are playing important roles to help mother earth. A lot of projects concerning global warming are mushrooming all over the world in order to come up with solution to global warming. And everyone, influential or not are taking part in it. Even the kids in school are taught how to be kind to nature.

Turning green is the solution, so to speak. And people are doing so (at least a lot of them). We have a responsibility to protect the only home we know. Are you doing your share? How do you do it? Are you turning green?
